Premier League side West Brom have confirmed the extension of Chris Brunt, promising to remain with The Hawthorns until the end of the 2018 season.
He joined from Sheffield Wednesday a decade ago but has said he would continue his deal with the club.
The long serving player has been decent for the club this season. He could get an extension of a year if he plays a certain number of games, as stated in his contract details. Brunt would join teammate James Morrison to become the players that would spend a decade at the club since Daryl Burgess – who played from 1987 until 2001.
“Chris has been a stalwart of this football club and for a long time and he is a valued and popular member of the squad. It’s great that he has extended his contract and he has shown great character to return from his injury in the manner he has.
“His form has been terrific since returning to the team and long may that continue,” West Brom manager Tony Pulis said after Brunt extended his stay at the club.
Brunt suffered a career threatening injury last term. The injury stopped him from playing for his country Northern Ireland at the Euro 2016 hosted in France. He returned from the injury in October and has proved his worth in the current set up. So far this term he has scored three important goals and has helped another three.
All through his stay for West Brom, Brunt has netted 45 times in 331 games. He is the second most capped player for the club behind Neil Clement. Only both players have played more than 300 games for West Brom.
