Reading striker Noel Hunt seems to be the main transfer target for West Brom, as Roy Hodgson reportedly sent a number of scouts to watch the striker in action.
It is thought that the striker would cost West Brom around £ 4 million and he would bring a wealth of experience having been in the Premier League a few seasons ago. The football betting markets make West Brom the favourites to land Hunt’s signature.
Bristol city player Nicky Maynard is also in the plans for this transfer window, while these rumours have been strengthened by the fact that reserve striker Chris Wood has been allowed to join Bristol City on a loan deal.
However, West Brom are not the only club looking after Nicky Maynard, as it has been revealed today that Swansea are also interested in signing a player. Swansea have been doing particularly well in their inaugural season in the Premier League.
They are also reportedly looking at signing Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran on loan until the end of the season, whilst a more ambitious loan move would be for Manchester City’s Nigel de Jong – though I wouldn’t bet on Manchester City letting him go whenthey have such important games coming up.
West Brom have already signed a Reading player in the form of Shane Long in the summer. It would be interesting to see if they would be willing to lose another good player to a Premier League opposition, as they are fighting for promotion themselves.
Reading are currently in the fifth place in the table, which would enable them to compete in the play-offs position. However, their position in the play-offs is certainly not guaranteed, as there are a number of other contenders like Leeds United and Blackpool as well.
