WEST BROM INTENSIFY ATTEMPTS TO SIGN NAISMITH

English Championship club West Bromwich Albion are looking to bolster their squad as they look to mark a return to English top flight football. They have started making plans and identifying players they want to sign this summer and they are progressing remarkably. The Baggies are among a host of clubs that are showing keen interest in Luton Town defender Kal Naismith, according to reports from Football League World.

The 30-year-old joined Luton in the January transfer window at the beginning of 2021 and he has a contract at the club until the end of the season. Premier League clubs Burnley and Norwich City are interested in him, while several Championship clubs like Stoke City, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield United along with the Baggies are looking to snap him up.

The 30-year-old is a versatile player who was initially signed by Luton to bolster their attacking ranks. However, he soon found himself playing in defence, and has flourished as a utility player from thereon. In the three-man defensive system, he is a regular starter and has been playing exceptionally well for the Hatters this season. He has scored one goal and provided six assists in 32 games so far in the league.

Luton are sixth in the Championship table currently and they are aiming for a place in the play-off. In case, they manage to secure a promotion in the Premier League (a long way though) it could leave an impact on Naismith’s future. It has been a disappointing start from Steve Bruce who was brought in to oversee an upturn in form and take the club to automatic promotion places.

Instead, what we are witnessing is an absolute catastrophe, with the Baggies losing three games in a row, and six in their last seven, drawing the other one.
