Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury is a target for English Championship side West Brom this summer according to English publication Express and Star. West Brom manager Steve Bruce is overseeing a major rebuild at the club this summer following the failure to secure instant promotion to the Premier League.
West Brom suffered relegation from the Premier League last season alongside Fulham and Sheffield United, but they failed to return to the division at the first time of asking despite an excellent start to the season under new manager Valerien Ismael. Frenchman Ismael was given the job of taking the Baggies back to the Premier League after his successful spell at Barnsley.
Ismael was unable to build on an impressive start to life at the Hawthorns and he was sacked and replaced by ex-Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic boss Bruce after results became very poor. In the end, promotion was a step too far for Bruce as the Baggies failed to even qualify for the playoffs. Fulham were the only team from the three relegated teams to gain instant promotion to the Premier League ahead of next season. Sheffield United were eliminated from the playoffs by Nottingham Forest who eventually joined Fulham and Bournemouth as the three promoted teams.
Baggies boss Bruce tried to sign 24-year-old Choudhury while he was at Newcastle United. Also, Sam Allardyce tried to secure the signature of the Leicester City player during his time at the Hawthorns. Allardyce was the last West Brom manager before the appointment of Ismael last summer.
Choudhury is not a regular in the Leicester City first-team and he was restricted to just 12 games in all competitions last season. He could join West Brom on loan for the new season or a permanent transfer could work for him if the Baggies can agree a fee with Leicester City.
