West Brom recently managed to bring in former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka on a free transfer. Manager Steve Clarke said after the signing that he is extremely delighted to bring the 34-year-old to the Hawthorns.
Anelka is one of the experienced strikers in the Premier league. He has played for the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bolton Wanderers amongst other clubs. He has also had spells in Turkey and Italy as well. However, many are expecting the 34-year-old striker to not make a great impact given his age and desire to play football.

Clarke, though, has said that he has seen enough of the Frenchman from his time at Chelsea to have confidence that he will be a success. He has signed a one-year contract with the Premier league outfit. His main job will be to reproduce the goals scored by Romelu Lukaku, who was on loan from Chelsea last season. The Belgian striker scored 17 goals in all competitions for the club and Clarke has admitted that his goals will definitely be difficult to replace. It was one of the main reasons for West Brom finishing comfortably without any relegation fears last season.
This will be the 11th club in his career for Anelka, and he has generated more than £ 90 million in transfer fees in his career. The former French international has an impressive CV as he has won numerous things over the course of his stellar career. This includes the Champions League title as well. Arsene Wenger was the first man to bring out the best in Anelka, although he will probably be best known for his Chelsea spell.
“I don’t have to talk Nicolas Anelka up. I never had a doubt about him because I’d worked with him at Chelsea so I know what type of person and player he is,” said Clarke.
