ANELKA JOINS

West Brom recently managed to bring in former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka on a free transfer. Manager Steve Clarke said after the signing that he is extremely delighted to bring the 34-year-old to the Hawthorns.

Anelka is one of the experienced strikers in the Premier league. He has played for the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bolton Wanderers amongst other clubs. He has also had spells in Turkey and Italy as well. However, many are expecting the 34-year-old striker to not make a great impact given his age and desire to play football.

CLARKE BACKS TEAM

West Brom manager Steve Clarke has praised his team after they showed a great character to come back from three goals down against Manchester United not once but twice in the match.

West Brom managed a 5-5 draw with Manchester United on the final day of the season, which was also the last time Sir Alex Ferguson was managing the club. This was his 1500th game in charge of the club. West Brom striker Romelu Lukaku, who is on loan from Chelsea, managed to bag a hat-trick in the match, as he helped the club get an astonishing score against the Premier league champions.

RESPONSE NEEDED

The West Brom manager Steve Clarke has said that he is looking for a response from its players, who were soundly beaten 3-1 by Swansea in the midweek action. West Brom came into the match in the top four spot after having played 14 matches this season.

They have taken impressive results at home on to the away trips as well, but they were unable to do anything against a very good Swansea team. West Brom were below par in this match, which surprised the manager Steve Clarke. He has seen West Brom dominant all the matches since his arrival as a replacement for Roy Hodgson in the summer.

CLARKE BLAMES FOSTER

The West Brom manager Steve Clarke has said that the former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster was responsible for the goal scored by Liverpool, which ultimately helped the Merseyside club in the league cup match against West Brom. Liverpool earned a hardfought 2-1 win over West Brom, who had beaten them earlier in the season.

The 3-0 defeat of Liverpool on the opening day of the season must have given the West Brom players a lot of confidence ahead of this match. However, they were unable to replicate the same form in this match and they were soundly beaten by their opponents.

CLARKE WANTS DUO TO STAY

New West Brom manager Steve Clarke has said that he wants to retain both Shane Long and Peter Odemwingie at the club, despite transfer rumours linking the Cameroon international with a move to the Middle East.

Peter Odemwingie has been a huge hit at the hawthorns in recent seasons. Even though he may not have had his best of campaign last season, Steve Clarke has said that he is one of the important players at the club. Shane long has also been linked with a move elsewhere, but Clarke has reiterated that he would like to retain the former Reading striker.
