West Brom have been involved in a battle for survival since the start of the season. Even though their performances have improved dramatically during the last few weeks, they still find themselves extremely close to the drop zone. Gera is one of the players Roy Hodgson would have hoped to have in his side at this stage of the season, with the Christmas fixtures set to be demanding for the club once more, but now he has to deal with the injury to the former Fulham player.
Gera was stretchered off in the match against Tottenham, a match that West Brom lost 2-1. The injury looked worse back then and this news has now confirmed West Brom’s worst fears.
Hodgson said “We still aren’t sure how long Gera will be out for but we know we won’t be able to call on him for the foreseeable future. It’s obviously a major blow both on the training pitch and in matches.”
Zoltan Gera was influential for West Brom in their last three matches. The win over Bolton was extremely important for West Brom, as it provided them with much-needed three points, although that has been followed up with a defeat against Tottenham. They are now only five points ahead of the drop zone in the 14th position.
