Roy Hodgson has been doing an extremely good job at the Hawthorns ever since replacing current Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo a few seasons back.
It is exactly the sort of job that he did while he was at Fulham. It has led to rumours that Roy Hodgson will be offered a new contract at West Brom, but due to the fact that there has been no development on this front, Keith Downing has expressed his doubts over the future of Roy Hodgson.
There is also an immediate rumour that Roy Hodgson will be one of the candidates to take over as the England manager in the summer. The English FA are yet to appoint a replacement for Fabio Capello. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was one of the initial favourites, but since the former Portsmouth manager has been unwilling to commit to this position, it is understood that the English FA are also having other options in their mind if they are unable to woo Harry Redknapp from his current position.
“I do think it is important the club keep Roy. We’re in the second year in the Premier League and, although we are not safe yet, it’s looking good. There has to be a structure with a purpose to move on to another level and Roy’s experience is vital. Roy has kept his cards close to his chest and I respect that. He’s got a lot of things to wait on, I think,” he told the Press Association. Roy Hodgson has only four months left on his current deal. West Brom are currently in the 10th place in the Premier league.
