Franco Baldini is a 54 years old former player and current Technical Director of Tottenham Hotspur, he has been appointed with this job since June of 2013 but his time in White Hart Lane is reaching it’s end as Baldini will be sacked from his position when the summer transfer window finalizes in September 1st.
In November of 2014, Paul Mitchell was selected as the head of recruitment and Franco’s Baldini’s role in the Premier League was diminished and now the decision has officially been made of letting him go as Baldini has not had an influential role since Mitchell’s appointment.
Besides the appointment of Paul Mitchell, another one of the reasons of why Franco Baldini is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur is simply because the board of directors of the English club is not happy with the work that Baldini has been doing as a lot of the high profile signings which Baldini has been in charge of signing have failed to perform.
Baldini was involved in Gareth Bale’s €85 transfer to Real Madrid as well as: Steven Caulker, Tom Huddlestone and Clint Dempsey all of which were offloaded from White Hart Lane and replaced by the following 7 players: Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Christian Eriksen, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue and Vlad Chriches.
Out of those 7 players only Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela are considered to be successes while all of the others have disappointed.
The transfer activities of Tottenham Hotspur have not been going well for the English club and this can cause a huge dent in their chances of making a genuine charge for the top spots of the Premier League. It’s far-fetched to believe that Mauricio Pochettino and his players will be able to compete at the same level as: Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Winning the Premier League title is not a very realistic goal for Tottenham Hotspur to achieve but nonetheless, the Argentine manager is still aiming to clinch a Champions League spot and lift a few pieces of silverware but it will be harder to accomplish if all of the signings or the majority of them continue to disappoint.
