West Brom’s disappointing end of season form continued after the team lost 3-2 to relegation threatened Leicester City at home.

After having ensured the survival in the Premier League in just a few matches after Tony Pulis came to the club, West Brom have been disappointing in the matches that have followed. They have managed only one win – against Stoke City – in the last five matches. Even though there is no immediate clear of relegation due to their healthy seven-point advantage over the drop zone. However, they could have put a real daylight between them and QPR, who occupy the final relegation spot, by managing a win against Leicester.

For long periods of the match, it looked like this would be a possibility. The club went into the final 10 minutes of the encounter leading the game 2-1. However, defensive lapses in the final part of the game meant that the opposition were able to get back with goals from Robert Huth and Vardy. Pulis was extremely angry with the sloppy defending shown by the players. This was also the 10th goal conceded by the team in the last three matches. There is a possibility of relegation fear being induced into the players since they have tough matches against Liverpool, United, and Chelsea still remaining.

“I just think we are shooting ourselves in the foot.It was poor defending against QPR and it was poor.Individual mistakes are costing us.The first goal Ulloa has not only just won it (from Gareth McAuley) he has been able to head it down and get inside Joleon (Lescott), two experienced players. That is bad defending. The second we switch off for the corner and again they score when really there are enough big players in the box to deal with that,” said Pulis.
