In the previous season of the Premier League, West Bromwich Albion just barely managed to avoid the bottom relegation zone as the club leaded by Tony Pulis survived for another campaign by 3 points and their latest signing, Darren Fletcher is hoping he can help the club in their journey of surviving in the top tier English League.
The Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher joined West Bromwich Albion a few weeks ago on February 2 of the ongoing year as he had no place left in Manchester United and decided to join a club where his chances of appearing on the main team are guaranteed which is a wise decision taking into consideration that he is 31 years old and is reaching the last few years of his professional playing career.
Upon joining West Bromwich Albion, Fletcher was immediately given the captaincy armband and has received praise from the coach Tony Pulis who stated that his squad needed a leader and this is what they have gotten with the arrival of Fletcher, who arrived to The Hawthorns on a free transfer.
Chris Brunt is the former captain of the team but Tony Pulis stated that it wasn’t a problem for him to give the armband to Fletcher. Tony Pulis said: “Brunty is happy to give Darren the captaincy and concentrate on his football. I felt Darren was what we needed in the dressing room. We needed a leader and he has been wonderful.”
Tony Pulis is hoping that by bringing in such an experienced player such as Darren Fletcher, he could help out some of the younger performers such as: SaidoBerahino who has recently expressed his displeasure in the club after having to settle with a place on the sidelines of the squad during certain matches.
